When learning to install drapes, it's essential to plan the length and width of your drapery panels. Choose a size and installation method that enhances both your window and the overall room aesthetic. Next, measure the length and width of your drapery according to your chosen hanging method.
To determine the correct width for your drapery, simply measure the length of your curtain rod (or the width of your window if you're mounting inside the frame). Then, choose your preferred fullness level to achieve the desired look — whether you like it light and airy or rich and luxurious.
No need to do the math — our Measurement Tool will do it for you.
Just input your rod or window width and select your fullness. We’ll calculate the exact curtain panel width you need.
To determine the length of your curtains, measure from the curtain rod down to the desired endpoint of your drapery panels. While you might consider sill-length curtains for shorter windows, opting for longer curtains can enhance the visual height of both your windows and ceilings, creating a more open and airy feel.
Begin measuring from the point where the drapery rod will be mounted down to the floor. Feel free to add extra inches as necessary to achieve the perfect length.
Sheer curtains gracefully hang just above the ground, offering a sleek appearance and effortless operation.
Measuring: Take measurements from the top of your curtain rod down to ½ inch above the floor.
Floor-length curtains that gently touch the ground are perfect for concealing any floor imperfections.
When measuring, be sure to add 1 to 2 inches to the desired length of your curtains.
Draped curtains form rich layers of fabric, adding an opulent touch to your space.
Measuring: Extend your curtain's float length by 3 to 6 inches.
